Let’s be a blunt for a movement. Your website looks awesome, it’s filled with great contents. The content is great, but look at those creepiest things, which makes it look like shit. This means readers will get distracted and then will not be able to focus on your content.
The problem is not with your content, it’s actually those creepiest shit things that you are neglecting and don’t realize.
There are actually many reader blocks on your content that you don’t realize. Therefore, readers are running away from your awesome content. They are visiting another website rather than staying on yours. Oh my god, it seems dangerous to put your brand reputation and goodwill at stake. Your hours of work may spill away due to those creepiest shit things. All your hard work will be wasted, but there is still time left and you have another chance for improvement.
You don’t need to worry at all, because these types of shit things already happened many times to me. Readers have come and left and my website bounce rate increased.
So, what do I do?
I start observing the user’s psychology: how they behave, what things annoy them. I am asking questions to figure out what is putting my website at risk. I observed almost 30+ websites to find out those creepiest annoying things in order to understand users’ psychology.
What do users hate about our websites? I analyzed users’ psychology, and here is what I found.
#1 Creepy Headlines:
After reading and observing 80+ articles, I determined that headlines matter a lot. 86% of readers read the headline and then decide, whether they have to open the content or not.
The more appealing your headline is, the greater the chances of getting your post open and read without leaving your website. Good headlines create user engagement and creepiest headlines create user distraction.
Headlines are important because they grab readers’ attention. Most probloggers say they spend almost 80 % of their work, creating great headlines and 20% on creating great content.
Tips:
1. Write an attractive headline for your readers that will grab their attention.
2. Use power words in your headlines: it performs better and creates a better engagement.
3. Try to create headlines that are about lists and how-to posts because it will get more clicks than ordinary headline posts.
4. Put some motivation in your headline.
#2 Poor grammar & Spelling mistakes:
I observed that users say they love poor grammar and spelling mistakes. It is the loveliest thing, which makes your blog unique. Don’t take me seriously, I’m just kidding.
Poor grammar and spelling mistake are the most annoying things in your blog. It creates a block for readers – while reading your content readers can’t get focus. This creepy thing also decreases your search engine ranking value and you lose your organic traffic from search engines.
Poor Grammar and spelling mistakes are a major distraction for readers and will force them to leave your website soon because they can’t read it properly. This increases your bounce rate and decreases your brand value.
Tips:
1. Poor grammar and spelling mistakes are annoying, so ask for help some help. A good editor will help.
2. Proofread every article using free or paid plugins for produce better content copy. There are many free and paid extensions available for WordPress to edit and produce better copy.
4. You can also use websites like polishmywriting.com to improve your writing skills.
#3 Information not accessible:
After observing many blogs, I have noticed one thing: people’s don’t have much of time to read the entire content and, therefore, they just skim the content to see if the information they need is there. Or not. If they don’t find what they are looking for in your content, they move on and leave your website quickly.
This creepiest thing happens, when your content is not well organized or information is not accessible to your readers. If they cannot access your info properly, they leave your website and move to another website.
Unorganized and inaccessible contents look dirty and creepy; they start to believe will not find what they want. If users can’t find what they are looking for in your content, then it increases your website bounce rate.
Tips:
1. Organize your info well for your users.
2. Interlinks your content with each other. It gives better content navigation for your readers.
3. Sort your content in a list format for better skimming to your readers to find out what they want.
#4 Website Speed:
It’s most annoying and the creepiest thing is to wait for pages to get fully loaded. I know you also don’t like to wait until for a page to get fully loaded with other websites. The world gets faster and we want all things faster, even website load times.
From a search engine ranking to user experience, website speed affects a lot. A single second of delay can affect your website a lot. That’s why many websites are trying to improve their website speed.
A recent study on Amazon shows that a 1-second delay can cause Amazon revenue, traffic and profit. Now you can imagine how much speed is important for your website
Website speed also matters in determining your website ranking with search engines. Slower website speed equal lower ranking by search engines and then readers can’t find your valuable content via search engines.
Tips:
1. Improve and optimize your website speed for a better user experience.
2. Use a free CDN like cloudflare or incapsula or shift your website to better CDN like MaxCDN. It will help you to increase your website speed.
3. Shift your website to best hosting company like Bluehost or Wp-engine
Final Words:
These creepiest things are most distracting and annoying for your readers. I know you can’t improve all these creepiest things quickly. It takes time. But if you do not try to improve these creepiest things, you will lose your website’s most valuable readers.
All these creepiest things affect your user engagement. Readers who are not getting focus on your website will leave. These things put your brand reputation at stake and decrease your online reputation.
The tips given at the bottom of each point are tips that are proven and tried by myself on my website. These tips help me a lot.

I think that many times people are writing content so deeply and repeated the same thing again and again in whole article. Your post makes so much sense for them. lovely post and thanks for sharing buddy
You are most welcome Bhavesh…
Hi Nikhil,
I agree wholeheartedly with the facts you said in the article. Despite the content being great, these factors can very much ruin the reputation of a blog.
Grammatical errors and spelling mistakes are often big turn offs. I’m not saying that I’m invincible when it comes to these factors. We all make such mistakes. But it is too much of such mistakes that matters. It sure affects the credibility of the author.
Then I say Page speed follows that factor. I’m a speed maniac. I mean, I want sites to load fast. But I happen to come across many of them, which are terribly slow! Man, they are also turn offs. I just hate visiting such sites.
I found the link to this article on Kingged, where I’ll Kingg it.
Keep writing.

Hello,
I’d absolutely agree with creepiest things regarding the content. The first thing is improper formatting of article or not using sub heading. Title plays a major role in getting attention of readers so we must use good title.
Thanks
Hi Nikhil,
Nice share, You have shared some nice tips regarding quality content. These tips will help bloggers to produce high quality posts. I think creepy titles and grammatical errors are two most important factors that makes your content looks destructive.
Thanks for this share.
Hi Nikhil,
It is a very good article. And thanks for sharing your observation with us.
All the points you have said are right as somewhere they strike to us also.
I think I agree with your first point that heading should be interesting, along with content.
Poor Grammars always leads to bad adsense impression …
You are right Rahul,
Poor grammar leads to low Adsense earnings and effects on your web traffic also… 😉
Hi Nikhil,
I really like how you set up this post with a great image, and then adding a problem and a solution. Too many times I come across posts that just point out a problem, without giving an appropriate solution.
In regards to your points, I can’t stand the spelling and grammar mistakes…just a huge turn-off.
Hi Amiti,
I hope you enjoy this post and thank you for your appreciation.

Hi Nikhil,
Yes indeed, these are the very things that annoy people when they visit blogs and all the more reason you should be careful that your blogs don’t fall in this category.
Catchy headlines are essential as that’s what brings readers to your blog, and so is grammar and proper formatting – without which things don’t work. Also, having your social buttons connected to your profile with the right twitter handle is essential or else you miss out on those tweet juice too. Having an easy navigation system and a commenting system are essential too.
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week ahead
Yes Herleena,
I agree with your noted points. Social buttons and easy navigation menus are important. They help to promote and guide users properly.
Thank you for your suggestion…..
Speed and grammar are the two important things which are literally presented in the most pathetic way over some blogs.
Thanks a ton for this share.
Most welcome Charmie,
I hope you enjoy this post…..
